I deeply enjoy helping people grow and create the lives they want for themselves. I am grateful for being able to have such a meaningful and helpful career. I have been practicing as a clinical psychologist for over 30 years. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1974 and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kansas in 1981. I have practiced in a number of settings including a community mental health center, a faith-based human service agency, school settings and individual solo practice. For 30 years I worked at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Student Counseling Service and was the Director of the service for 11 years before retiring from the University in 2018. I continue to enjoy providing psychological services in my private practice.
I am originally from Los Angeles, California, the son of two public school teachers. But I have spent most of my life in the upper midwest with no regrets (except maybe those last two weeks of January). I am partnered and have four grown children with one living in Minnesota, one on the east coast and two in the Pacific Northwest. My hobbies include aviation (I am a private pilot), hiking, nature photography (I took the photos featured on this site), and getting on planes (airliners--the ones I fly are way too slow) to go have fun with our grown children and two grandchildren.
